Periodontitis (gum and bone care)

Diseased gums (gingivitis, bleeding gums) as well as damage to the bone supporting the tooth requiring periodontal care. Basic care primarily aimed at removing dental plaque and tartar is given by the dentist and dental hygienist.

Periodontal surgery aims to stabilize bone loss and regenerate bone and gums. Periodontal treatment can often prevent having to extract the tooth, but also helps to keep the weak teeth alive and avoid prosthetic reconstruction (bridges, dentures) which remains expensive.
